National seminar in Hungary
Testing of educational modules from the recently launched manual for non-formal environmental education took place in Terény, in Hungary at BPS Green School from November 24-26, 2023. Over the weekend, the Mindenegyüttmegy Association hosted a national seminar at a green school for children in primary or secondary school. The school is based on the alternative BPS model. It allows children to get to know all relevant fields and cover the essential learning outcomes for their age group, while connecting directly to nature, sustainability and our environment. The primary objective was to evaluate the educational modules developed as part of the international initiative “Eco-patrols for Environmental Goals,” funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ program.
Approximately 20 participants, teachers and educators from public institutions and civil society organizations engaged in three workshops as active participants. Their role was to provide constructive feedback on specific activities within the modules. This collaborative reflection aimed to refine the modules and ensure their readiness for implementation with young people.
The tested Educational Modules were “Ecological literacy,” “Biodiversity and ecosystems,” and “Energy and resources.”
The broader project’s focus involves implementing these innovative practices, including the development and testing of the new Eco-patrol manual. Additionally, there are plans to introduce Eco-patrol as an extracurricular activity at the local level, targeting individuals aged 14-18.
